Home » Girls' Swimming & Diving NewsCards swimming teams lose twice over breakJanuary 10, 2013 Southport High SchoolThe Cardinals swimming team was busy over the break. They had four-hour practices every day except Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Sundays. Along with the practices the team had two meets over break. Their first meet was against Speedway on Jan. 3. The boys lost their meet only by five points. The girls meet had switched scores compared to the boys meet. The girls won their meet, but only won by five points. “There were a lot of personal bests that meet,” assistant coach Mr. Josef Horvath said. The Cards attended the Falcon Invitational Jan. 5. Every event was executed at a college level, in other words, every events distance was doubled. The boys came in 4th out of four teams and the girls came in 4th out of four teams. The scores went as follows: Girls: Franklin Central-129 Perry Meridian-117 Roncalli-54 Southport-29 Boys: Franklin Central-157.5 Roncalli-95.5 Perry Meridian-71.5 Southport-5.5 One of the many good performances from the Cards was freshman Delaney Bucker’s in the 1000-yard freestyle. “I didn’t expect to do so well,” Bucker said. “If I could do it again I think I would do better. I was a little nervous about it being 1000 yards instead of 500, but it was an event that I’m familiar with.” The Cards hosted Greenwood last night, Jan 8. Come out and support your Cards in their efforts. Alex Green SHS News Bureau
