Home » Boys' Basketball NewsCards basketball loses to Bloomington NorthDecember 18, 2012 Southport High SchoolThe boys basketball team hosted Bloomington North Friday, Dec.13. The boys lost 61-39. Head varsity coach Mr. Kyle Simpson said the boys were down 40-14 at the half. The team came back in the second half and outscored Bloomington North 25-21. “The team kept fighting and cut down the score to 48-32 at the start of the fourth quarter,” Simpson said. Simpson believes the team took better care of the ball, but needs to improve on their shooting. The team did improve on some things on offense however. “We put ourselves into better shooting positions in the third quarter and we understood where the ball needed to go,” Simpson said. Senior Quinton Sanders had seven points for the Cards, along with juniors Tim Jewell, who contributed with 10 points and David Simmons who had seven. The team doesn’t resume play for another three weeks. In practice Simpson plans on focusing on the team and teaching more fundamentals. Simpson also wanted to thank the student section for their support. “We have a good student section that our guys feed off of during the games, I appreciate it, “Simpson said. Come out and support your Cards in their next game, which is when they face Franklin Central on Jan.4. Brooklyn Raines SHS News Bureau
