Cards swimming teams to take on Cathedral
December 7, 2012
Southport High SchoolThe Cards boys (0-9) and girls (2-7) swimming teams are hosting Cathedral Saturday, Dec. 8. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10a.m.
“In the past Cathedral has been a good competitor, so we’re expecting a neck-in-neck races,” head coach Mr. Matthew Jeffries said.
The Cards, to improve their scores, have been moving people around in the line-up.
“(Sophomore) Anthony Bueckers is now swimming the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle instead of the 100-yard backstroke,” Jeffries said. “We have also moved (senior) Jake Johnston to the 100-yard breaststroke. These moves will take advantage of their talent in those events, which should translate into additional points.”
Something also looking up for the Cards is that Cathedral has lost some senior swimmers from last year.
“The fastest guy on their team graduated last year, so I think there isn’t anyone of big concern to me,” Jeffries said.
Come out and support your Cards in their efforts.
