Cards basketball "runs out of steam vs. Ben Davis

December 3, 2012
Southport High School

The boys basketball team hosted Ben Davis this past Saturday, Dec.1. The Cards lost 36-68.

The Cards were led by junior Tim Jewell with 14 points and senior Jacob Hunter who had eight points.

Even though the team didn’t win on Saturday Jewell was pleased with the way the team played.

“We finally played as a team and we are making progress,” Jewell said.

Head varsity coach Mr. Kyle Simpson said the team competed on Saturday.

“We played hard and at one point were within twelve points in the third quarter,” Simpson said. “We just ran out of steam.”

Simpson said he will continue to work with the team to get better each week.

“In practice we will work on fundamentals and playing together,” Simpson said.

The Cards will travel to Bloomington South Friday, Dec. 7. This game is considered to be one of the biggest of the year because this will be Simpson’s first time returning to his old school he used to coach at.

Come out and support your Cards.
