Lady Cards basketball wins vs. Avon, moves to beat Bloomington South

November 30, 2012
By Nick Holland of Southport High School

The Lady Cards basketball team came out with a win this past Tuesday, Nov. 27 when they traveled to Avon to take on the Lady Orioles. The final score of the game was Lady Cards 62, Orioles 53.

Head varsity coach Ms. Leah Enterline was pleased with how the team played in the second half after a sluggish start.

“They came out with more intensity,” Enterline said. “We started out with some foul trouble, but our players came back and played the right way and were able to avoid getting more fouls.”

The key to the game for the Lady Cards according to Enterline was that they overall played smarter and harder than Avon.

The Lady Cards hope they can continue their winning ways when they take on Bloomington South tonight, Nov. 30. Enterline said the team worked on game speed a lot and implemented a new offense that is “continuous” and a new “pressure” defense. The Panthers have two main players according to Enterline and the team plans to focus on them while also still accounting for the role players.

Make sure to come out and support your Lady Cards tonight and for the rest of their season.
