Cardinal Profile: James Paden

November 30, 2012
Southport High School

James Paden is a junior on the swimming team at Southport.  Paden got into swimming because he thought it would be an easy letter, unfortunately for him it’s not.

“Being on the team gives you a lot of pride and sleep deprivation,” Paden said.

Paden competes in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard IM, 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard freestyle relay.  His best event is the 100-yard breaststroke with a best time of 1:10.0.

The team is 0-1 this season, but Paden has high hopes.

“So far this season we haven’t done that well, but I do believe that individually we are improving and will do well,” Paden said.

Outside of the team he likes to play video games and guitar.

“My most memorable moment on the team would have to be my freshman year lock-in,” Paden said.

Paden, though not a senior yet, would like to either attend the Naval Academy or Miami University.  He is undecided about swimming in college.

Come out and support your Cards in their efforts.
