Lady Card swim team registers first win

November 19, 2012
Southport High School

The girl’s swimming team won Thursday, Nov. 15, against Ben Davis.  The score was 102 to 83.

Key performers for the Cards were senior Sarah Barnhart, freshman Delaney Bucker and senior Carly Chappell.

“I am honored to be a key performer, especially because I’m a freshman,” Bucker said.  “I was glad with my performance in the 100 yard free.  It took a lot of hard work at practice and over the summer to achieve this.  I love being on the team and all the support that I get from the team.”

Her head coach is very excited about the team.

“I’m excited about what our team is capable of,” Mr. Matthew Jeffries said.  “The team did well against Ben Davis, but we still have a lot to work on in the next few months.”

“Our technique is the main thing we need to work on,” Jeffries said.  “We also need to work on our endurance and racing strategy.”
