Home » Girls' Swimming & Diving NewsCardinal Profile: Sarah BarnhartNovember 8, 2012 Southport High SchoolSarah Barnhart is a senior on the swimming team this year and is ready to lead the team through another season. Being on the team as a senior “is lots of fun,” according to Barnhart. They get to pick out the suits for the season and design the T-shirt. Being on the swimming team is “really hard and we have one of the hardest practices of all sports, but it’s very fun,” Barnhart said. She got into swimming in 6th grade. The Olympics were going on at the time, which influenced her to swim. Now for the Cards she swims in the 50 meter breaststroke, 200 meter medley, 200 meter international medley (IM) 100 meter breaststroke, and 400 meter freestyle relay. If she could, she would like to continue swimming in college at IUPUI, where she has already been accepted. “This season is looking good. The girls are looking to have a really good season and the guys are looking at building and growing season,” Barnhart said. “The only thing I have a problem with is the long hours we put into practice, but I love just being there, practice or meet. Her most memorable time on the team would be the Lock-ins. The team would stay the night, hang out, play games, and all around have a great time. In her free time she enjoys camping, running in half-marathons, and golfing. Alex Green SHS News Bureau
