Girls volleyball wraps up "promising" season

October 26, 2012
Southport High School

The Lady Cards volleyball team finished their season with a 9-18 record. The Lady Cards beat Ben Davis in the first round of sectionals, but lost to Perry Meridian in the second round of sectionals.

Seniors Bria Wright and Michaela Ullrich both made all-county. Bria Wright made first team while Michaela Ullrich received an honorable mention. Both girls also made all-conference.

Head coach Mr. Kyprian Harasymowycz believes the team met a lot of goals they set out in the beginning of the season.

“We went to the semi-finals in sectionals. Had two kids make all-county and all-conference, and missed last year’s win total by one game,” Harasymowycz said.

Next season Harasymowycz plans on finding size, and plans on implementing more strength and conditioning training for the team.

Harasymowycz was pretty pleased with the season.

“This was a promising year,” Harasymowycz said.
