Girls soccer to start county tonight

September 24, 2012
Southport High School

The Lady Cards soccer team was scheduled to play Mooresville, Saturday, Sept. 22. The game was canceled due to a wet field. The game will not be rescheduled for a later date. The team will kick off their first round of county against Brebeuf Jesuit, Monday, Sept. 24. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at Mary Bryan.

Head coach Mr. Dan McLaughlin said Brebeuf is a very good team.

“They are well coached, have good kids, and their program has been around for a long time,” McLaughlin said.

In practice, the team has been working on possessing the ball more and playing “sounder” defense. The Lady Cards want to execute these things in tonight’s game.

McLaughlin believes the team has to do a few things in order to get a win tonight.

“We need to shut them down on defense and offensively find our targets,” McLaughlin said.

Come out and support your Lady Cards tonight.
