The Cards and Lady Cards cross country teams hosted the SHS Invitational last Saturday, Sept. 22.

The boys came in fourth out of 14 teams.  Senior Jake Hally led the boys team Saturday coming in 14th. Following him were juniors Clayton Bowie coming in 18th, Harrison Walden in 20th and junior George Ferris, who ran a personal best, in 21st.  Junior Vincent Hre also ran a personal best time in last Saturday’s race.  There were a total of 106 runners at the meet.

“We’re looking to improve our overall race performance,” head coach Mr. Dennis Bruce said.  “We need to be in top condition for the upcoming County meet.”

The girls team finished in 3rd place and had a runner in the top ten this race, freshman Delaney Bucker finished 10th for the Lady Cards.  Following her were freshmen Shelby Roger in 22nd, Desiree Kinney in 27th and Caroline Chappell in 35th.

Head coach Mr. Nathan Fishel was happy with the way his team competed but knows they could do better.

The next meet for both teams will be the county meet that will be held next Saturday, Sept. 29. The meet will begin at 9:00 a.m.
