Lady Cards volleyball goes 1-2 at Franklin Community Invite

The Lady Cards volleyball team played in the Franklin Community Tournament, Saturday, September 15. They won one out of the three games they played. They played against Franklin Community their first game, Jay County their second game and Franklin Central their third game. The Lady Cards record is now 5-14.

Junior Dabney Skutt had 26 kills for the entire day.

The Lady Cards volleyball team lost their first game in two sets, 7-25 and 17-25.

Head coach Mr. Kyprian Harasymowycz said Franklin Community was a good team.

“They have a lot of girls that play club volleyball, and play just volleyball,” Harasymowycz said.

Harasymowycz believes the team played a lot better in the second set compared to the first.

“In the second set we played with more of a sense of urgency and played with better effort,” Harasymowycz said.

The team won their second game against Jay County, 25-22 and 25-20.

Harasymowycz said the girls played better their second game.

“They fought hard even when times got tough,” Harasymowycz said.

The Lady Cards played Franklin Central their third game and lost in three sets, 25-18, 23-25, and 15-25.

Harasymowycz said it was an intense game and the team played well on offense.

Harasymowycz said in practice he plans on working on serve receive, passing, and communication.

“Friday in practice we focused on serve receive and didn’t execute it well in the tournament,” Harasymowycz said.

The Lady Cards play again Wednesday, September 19. They will host Whiteland. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
