Girls volleyball loses to Warren Central

September 7, 2012
Southport High School

The Lady Cards volleyball team lost to Warren Central, last night, Thursday, September 6. The Lady Cards managed to win one game out of four, 18-25, 19-25, 25-22 and 22-25. The Lady Card’s record is now 4-10.

Senior Bria Wright had 17 kills and 22 digs, junior Dabney Skutt had 14 kills and 15 digs, sophomore Jackie Bowie had a career high of 22 digs, and sophomore Shayla Wright had a career-high of 36 assists.

Head coach Mr. Kyprian Harasymowycz said his team fought hard last night and played competitively.

“Despite losing two starters we fought hard and competed,” Harasymowycz said

Harasymowycz thought the team’s defensive strategy and blocking changes were successful against Warren Central.

“We defended the ball well especially against their best player, Casey Clark, who will be playing volleyball at UNC Greensboro,” Harasymowycz said.

Harasymowycz said the team still needs to work on putting balls away though.

The Lady Cards next game will be next Tuesday, September 11 against Lawrence Central. It will be an away match for the Lady Cards and is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
