Cards soccer defeats Perry Meridian
August 31, 2012
Southport High SchoolThe boys soccer team won last night, August 30, against Perry Meridian. The score was 3 to 1 with senior captain Efrain Tovar scoring two of the goals and junior Van tha Bawi.
“Perry was actually better than I thought they were,” head coach Mr. Josh Brown said. “They play as hard and fast just as we do. Our first half I thought we played a little causal and got out worked. The second half I thought we picked up our effort which led to 2 goals and the win.”
The Cards will look to improve tonight in practice so tomorrow, August 31, when they take on Roncalli, they will be better on defense and won’t make as many mental errors.
We play Roncalli on Saturday,” Brown said. “We don’t have much time to relax. We need to be better defensively. The 2 goals we gave up this week were due to basic defensive mistakes that we need to correct.”
Make sure come out and support your Cards in their efforts to sweep the season series with their southside rivals.
