Girls XC places fifth at Rushville

August 27, 2012
By Nick Holland of Southport High School

The Lady Cards cross country team came in fifth out of ten teams this past Saturday, August 25. They competed at the annual Rushville Invitational.

Although the team finished right in the middle of the standings, head coach Mr. Nathan Fishel was still very proud of his team’s efforts.

“Our team is still learning,” Fishel said. “Three of our top five runners are freshmen. But they are learning and coming along. We just need to go out there and compete just as good as we are.”

The Lady Cards were led by freshmen Delaney Bucker, Emily Hart, Caroline Chappell and Desiree Kinney.

The team hopes it can go out and compete at the standards that Fishel has set out for them when they travel to the Martinsville Invitational next Saturday, September 1. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.

Make sure you come out and support your Lady Cards.
