Cards tennis falls to Pike

Southport High SchoolThe tennis team lost to a “tough” Pike team 1-4. This brings their record to 0-5.
Senior Austin Stephenson came through winning in three sets in varsity one singles. Junior Billy Cross lost a close match and in doubles, freshman Jared Hunsicker and sophomore Nick Holland lost a close tie breaker 6-7 (5-7), 5-7.
“The only thing we really need is consistency,” head coach Mr. Harry Schwartz said.
With the consistency the Cards hope their shots will get better.
“Every match we are improving” Schwartz said.
Their next meet is against southside and township rival Perry Meridian. The match will be next Tuesday, August 28. It is scheduled to begin at 5:30p.m
