Home » Boys Track & Field NewsBoys track wins at PerryApril 26, 2012 By Nick Holland of Southport High SchoolThe boys track team beat their south side rival Perry Meridian 72-60 this past Tuesday, April 24. The Cards brought home wins in nine of the sixteen events. Winning for the Cards were seniors Cameron Turner in long jump and the 400 meter dash, Cameron Ellis in the shot put. Also juniors Jake Hally and Gerald Toweh won the 3200m run and the 110m and 300m hurdles respectively. The lone sophomore winner for the Cards was Sanchez Miller in the 200. Finally, the freshmen class turned in a win by Kevin Wagner. But the brightest spot of the day was perhaps the 4x100 relay team of Miller senior Albat Mulbah and freshman Cardell Tucker and Aaron Ferguson. This marks the fifth time that that particular relay team has won, each time with a different line up. Head coach Mr. Nathan Fishel was very pleased with the way his team battled. “We looked like a team out there,” Fishel said. “I think this was the best meet we have had all season. If we hadn’t battled like we did, I don’t know if we would have won.” The Cards hope to continue their successes when they travel to the Conference Indiana meet tomorrow, April 27, at Pike High School. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. Nick Holland SHS News Bureau
