Home » Football NewsCards lose to Pburg by "This Much"August 27, 2012 Sheldon Clark High SchoolThe Sheldon Clark Cardinals traveled to Prestonsburg this past Friday to take on the Blackcats. It was a beautiful evening for high school football as shown by the huge crowed that attended. SC would jump out early taking a 26-13 lead at the half. The 2nd half would start out rough for the Cards as Pburg came out aggressive and after a couple of turnovers and a botched special teams play the Blackcats had regained the lead 33-26. The Cards would come storming back and it would become a shootout from there as the lead would change hands 3 more times before Prestonsburg would take a 48-40 with 6 minutes remaining in the game. SC would take the kick-off and march the length of the field and on 4th and goal from the 3 yard line with 54 seconds remaining in the game SC quarterback Bryce Workman would roll right and dive for the endzone and from all vantage points got in for the TD but the sideline judge ruled him short 1 inch and the game would end in heartbreaking fashion for the Cards. The drop to 1-1 on the season and will host Casey County on September 1 (a rare Saturday game) in the annual Calloway Bowl.
