Home » Football NewsScott Co Football advances in the KHSAA 6A PlayoffsNovember 7, 2010 Scott County High Schoolby Josh Holland It took Scott County nearly a quarter to wake up, but when they did, they were devastating. After a silent, scoreless first quarter, SC took it to Nelson County in the first round of the 6A playoffs at Toyota Stadium Friday. In this quarter alone, Scott County put up stats that many teams desire for entire games. SC scored 34 points, totalling 116 yards off rushing and 81 off passing. The touchdowns were scored by a handfull of Scott County players. Marcus Hill led the team in rushing this quarter gaining 53 yards and scoring one touchdown. Also contributing a rushing touchdown were players Kevo Edwards and Ben Lawyer. Scott County also proved they could go to the air when they needed to, throwing for two touchdowns - one a short, nine-yard pass from Lawler to Josh Walls, and one a long 72-yard bomb from Lawler to James Happy. But coach Jim McKee maintains that it was his team's defense that won the game. And the defense fired on all cylinders. Keeping with the strong offensive performance in the second quarter, the second quarter proved to be just as effective on the defensive end. Scott County picked off four of its five interceptions in the second quarter, with Cody Campbell leading the way at two. Also grabbing interceptions in the quarter were players Avery Ford and Damien Gray. SC scored one more touchdown against Nelson to edge the final score to 41-0. Scott County will return to Toyota Stadium 7:30 Friday to take on Central Hardin for the second round of the 6A playoffs.
