Wildcats Whip Tigers
October 19, 2009By Daniel Porter of Shelby Co. High School
Shelby County, homecomeing week, excitement, distraction. Last year the wildcats made a fool of John Carroll on homecomeing week scoreing 50+ points, this year they almost fooled themselves. The Wildcats faced winless Talladega, and while they score quickly on their first drive, little more looked impressive for the #10 team in the state. The wildcats were only up 19 with three seconds to go before the half when Talladega called timeout and on the following play threw a screen passed was intercepted by Demonte Ford who took it the distance for six, ending the half. Shelby County led 26-0 No more points would be added by either team until the final driove when Talladega went 80+ yards for a score on the Wildcats second team defense.
The Wildcats had five turnovers, four lost fumbles, and a muffed punt, distaction of the week... possibly, wake up call to get the team better ready for Chelsea next week... Certainly! A game this sloppy really can only make you think next week will be ugly, for Chelsea fans, because the Wildcats don't play like that week in and week out!
Hornets be prepared, you may get stung Friday... and it's going to hurt.
