Mt. Pleasant Jazz Bands To Compete at IHCC

Mt. Pleasant Community High School's two Jazz Bands, directed by Jim DePriest and Adam Creager, will travel to Ottumwa Saturday to participate in the Indian Hills Jazz Fest on the campus of Indian Hills Community College.


The high school competition will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26.  Twenty-two Iowa high school jazz bands will be performing and competing for ensemble and individual solo awards.  Participating high schools this year will include: Central Decatur, Des Moines Roosevelt, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Fort Madison, Highland (Riverside), Indianola, Iowa City Regina, Knoxville, Moravia, Moulton-Udell, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, Prairie City-Monroe, Van Meter, Waukee and Winfield-Mount Union.  Several high schools will have more than one competing jazz band.
