Marching Band Packs Meals For Kids Against Hunger
August 6, 2014Mt Pleasant High School
The Mt. Pleasant High School Panther Marching Band has always received great support from the community. So director Jim DePriest thought it would be appropriate that the band give back to the community.
On Tuesday, after a 7-hour band camp session, many of the band students stayed to pack meals for Kids Against Hunger, a humanitarian food-aid organization.
Using specially formulated ingredients, the students filled 1,296 packages which equates to 7,776 meals.
Money for these ingredients was made possible by fund raising efforts by the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant.
The mission of Kids Against Hunger is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and to feed starving children throughout the world.
