Middle and High School music students were busy last Saturday and came home with various honors.

The Mount Pleasant Middle School Show Choir Chain Reaction and the High School’s InMotion competed at the “Stars in the Spotlight” Invitational at Fort Madison High School. Chain Reaction placed first in the middle school division while InMotion placed first in class 3A during the daytime competition and qualified for the evening finals where they finished as Second Runner-Up, placing behind Muscatine and Grand Champion Davenport North. Mount Pleasant’s Garrett Carlston was named Best Male Vocalist.

Meanwhile, in the morning, the Middle School Jazz Band and the two High School Jazz Bands traveled to Iowa City West High School for the SEIBA Jazz Festival. The Middle School Jazz Band, directed by Adam Creager, placed fourth out of ten bands while Jazz II came in first in their class. Jazz II is led by Laura Westfall.

InMotion will next be in competition on March 22 at the Red Carpet Gala at Hanson Auditorium on the campus of West Delaware High School in Manchester.
