Many of Iowa's premeier  large school (class 4A) show choirs traveled to Mt. Pleasant Saturday for the 20th Music InMotion Show Choir Invitational, hosted by Mt. Pleasant's InMotion.

Cedar Rapids Xavier's Xhilaration took top honors in the evening finals to claim the title as Grand Champions. But it was a close contest as they edged out Visual Adrenaline from Ankeny by a half point. Davenport Central's Central Singers Inc. placed third just 8 points behind Ankeny. Central had placed first in the daytime competition, 8 points ahead of Xavier. Rounding out the finalists were Muscatine's River City Rhythm, Northside Establishment from Davenport North, and Bettendorf's Surround Sound.

Caption Awards went to Ankeny for Best Vocals, while Davenport Central was awarded Best Choreography and Best Band.

Outstanding female soloist was Kadijah Pettie  from Davenport Central and Davenport North's Jared DeFauw was named as the outstanding male soloist.

Xavier had the most fans attending, as determined by ticket sales at admissions.

Other groups participating included Revelation from Des Moines Roosevelt and prep groups Xuberance from Xavier, Center Stage from Davenport North, and prep champion Blue Vibrations from Davenport Central. The top 6 groups from the daytime competition competed in the finals.

Judges for the event were Allen Chapman, a vocal instructor for over 40 years at Ft. Madison High School and later at Holy Trinity Catholic; Jim Berry, choral director at City High in Iowa City; Nancy Allen, music professor at Viterbo University; Emily Begnaud, a freelance choreographer from the Kansas City area; Jim DePriest, director of bands at MPCHS, who was a last minute replacement for a judge unable to attend due to illness; Aaron Canterbury, freelance choreographer from Cedar Rapids.

Performing in exhibition were Chain Reaction of the Mt. Pleasant Middle School and InMotion.
