Band Performs Well At Linn-Mar Festival

The Mount Pleasant High School Panther Marching Band placed third out of nine bands in Class 3A at the Linn-Mar Marching Band Festival in Marion on Saturday. Mount Pleasant also received a Caption Award for Best Color Guard in 3A. Twenty-one bands from central and eastern Iowa participated.
On October 5 the band will travel to Fayette, Missouri to compete with 52 bands at the Central Methodist University Band Day. The event features field show competition as well as indoor color guard and drumline competitions.
The Mount Pleasant High School Marching Band is under the direction of Jim DePriest. He is assisted by Marlene DePriest, Laura Westfall, Philip Schroetter, Adam Creager, and Ron Coberley. The band's show features music from Miss Saigon. This year’s band has a school record 194 members and is one of the largest bands in Iowa.
