46-Game Conference Win Streak Snapped

A 46 consecutive game Southeast Conference win streak for the 9th ranked Mt. Pleasant boys basketball team came to an end Friday night in Ft. Madison when the Bloodhounds scored a 57-50 win over the Panthers.
Ft. Madison quickly jumped to a 6-0 lead but the visiting Panthers answered with two 3-pointers to knot the score. MP trailed 16-14 at the end of the first quarter, but then led 28-26 at halftime.
The third quarter saw Ft. Madison grab a five point lead which they held for the remainder of the contest. The Hounds hit key free throws in the final minutes to seal the win.
Faith Pope led MP with 14 points and Ryan Hanna scored 12. Miles Wentzien led FMHS with 22 points.
Mt. Pleasant can still win the conference title outright by beating Washington in Panther Gym on February 8.
Ft. Madison beat the Mt. Pleasant freshman team 49-29, with Tyler Batten scoring 12. MP won the JV game 48-43.
On Saturday the Burlington Greyhounds handed the Panthers their 5th loss of the season 49-46 at Burlington. Faith Pope scored 17 Points to be the only double figure scorer.
Next action is Thursday at home against West Branch as part of a girl-boy varsity double header which will be preceeded by a JV girls game starting at 4:30 PM. Please note that the JV boys game is at the MIDDLE SCHOOL, with a 5:00 PM tipoff.
