Panther Girls Hand Osky Second Season Loss

The Mt. Pleasant Panthers weathered a stellar performance by Oskaloosa's Kena Veldhuizen, as she scored 29 points despite a concentrated effort to contain her. But the Panthers hung on to win the game 50-47, handing Osky only their second loss this season.

Natalie Ita led the offensive effort with 13 points, Mary Wester popped in 12, and Kelsi Phipps 11. All three are sophomores.

Mt. Pleasant had 29 rebounds, with Phipps getting 10 and Wester 9.

The game was the first of a girls/boys varsity doubleheader, with the boys following with a 59-18 win over the Indians.

Weather permitting, the girls and boys will have another varsity doubleheader Thursday at home with West Branch.
