September 13, 2012Mt Pleasant High School
This Saturday night's Mt. Pleasant Marching Invitational will feature some 1,850 high school musicians from 18 competing bands from across eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
The extravaganza takes place on Evans Field at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex on Mapleleaf Drive. The Mt. Pleasant High School Band will start off the event with an exhibition performance of their show "The Madness of the Unimagined" at 5:30 PM. Due to the homecoming dance that same evening, the band is up first rather than the traditional spot before the awards are handed out.
Admission is $5 and additional off-street parking is available at the nearby Olson-Powell Funeral Home and Calvary Baptist Church if the Mapleleaf lot is full.
Concessions will be available throughtout the evening. Among the items available will be grilled ribeye steak sandwiches, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, brats, pizza, nachos, pop corn, pickles, marching (not walking) tacos, various candies, coffee, hot chocolate, Pepsi products, and Gatorade/G2.
Bands will be warming up at two locations on the spacious grounds of the Old Threshers Reunion in McMillan Park.
