Courageous Effort By Depleted Panthers Against Pella

June 6, 2012
Mt Pleasant High School

The Mt. Pleasant Panthers girls soccer team went up against a talented Pella team Monday night at Pella with a trip to the state tournament on the line. One problem though. Most of the team, also members of the school's band, were on a music trip to Washington DC and New York City.

With only eight players available -  only four starters - the word "forfeit" popped into the conversation. But seven athletes, mainly track and basketball players, volunteered to fill out the roster.

The new team had only a few practices for the new girls to learn the game and for everyone to mesh together.

But in the end, nothing could stop a good Pella squad from winning 10-0. The Panthers end the season 11-9 and Southeast Conference Champions.

In the end, Coach Ed Chabal said the girls all played hard at Pella and that's all he could ask for.
