Home » Music NewsMusic Students Ready For The Big Apple and DCMay 31, 2012 Mt Pleasant High SchoolInstrumental and vocal students in the Mt. Pleasant High School Music Department will be departing on a seven day trip to Washington DC and New York City on June 1. They will arrive around 10:00 AM Saturday morning in Washington DC, where they will first visit Arlington National Cemetery. Highlight of that visit will be four students laying a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington Cemetery. The four students were chosen based on submitted written essays. Later on Saturday the group will attend the murder mystery Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center. Sunday morning the band will perform on the West Front of the Capitol then spend the remainder of the day on the Capitol Mall and at museums. The next day features tours of the Capitol, the National Archives, and visit a shopping mall before heading to New York City. On Tuesday in the Big Apple they will visit the Empire State Building and Times Square. In the afternoon the Chamber Choir will sing at St. Pathrick's Cathedral. The students will then enjoy dinner at Rockefeller Center before seeing a Broadway show in the evening, with some attending Wicked and others The Lion King. Wednesday will feature a boat tour of New York City and a meal and show at Medieval Times in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. After that the group will depart for home, with arrival at MPCHS on Thursday June 7 between 9:30 and 10:00 AM.
