Mt. Pleasant Boys Track 3A District Champs

The Mt. Pleasant boy’s track team won the 3A district they hosted THursday with 144 points. Oskaloosa was second with 118, Ft. Madison 3rd in the 8 team field with 113 points.

State meet qualifiers from Mt. Pleasant are Justin Dunn in the discuss with a first place toss of 148’ 8.5”. Emmett Wester was 2nd with 144’ 9.5”, and he won the shot put with a heave of 47’ 6.5”. Tommy Thorne won the 800 meters in 2:07.08. Zach May won the 1600 meter run in 4:42.49 and Brandon Moorman, the defending state champion was 2nd in the 110 high hurdles in a time of 14.92.

The shuttle hurdle relay team was first in a time of 59.38 with Cole Phillips, Kendall porth, Tommy Thorne and Brandon Moorman. The 4×800 relay was 2nd in a time of 8:24.40 with Zach May, Nate Smith, Donnie Johnson and Tommy Thorne.

 The Mt. Pleasant  team also has several competitors waiting to see if their times or distances were good enough to qualify for state, depending on what happened elsewhere around Iowa.
