Home » Girls' Soccer NewsShot By Pullis Pulls Out Win At WashingtonMay 11, 2012 Mt Pleasant High SchoolWith an outright Southeast Conference championship on the line, Madison Pullis launched a shot into the goal in the second overtime to give the Mt. Pleasant Panthers a 3-2 win over the Washington Demons at Case Field in Washington. It was scoreless at halftime and the Demons found the back of the net first in the second period. The Panthers knotted the score with a Holly Long goal via a Sarah Van Dorin assist, only to give up a goal on a breakaway to find themselves behind again with the clock getting closer to 0:00. But like several times this season, Mt. Pleasant was able to score when they needed to, again by Long with a nice assist from Linzie Hood, to force overtime. After neither team was able to generate a score in the first overtime, junior Madison Pullis was able to get one in to give the Panthers sole possession of the SEC crown. It was Pullis's first goal this season. Mt. Pleasant is now 8-5 overall this season and will participate in the West Liberty Tournament this Saturday. Their first game is at 9:00 AM against Columbus Community. Other teams in the tourney are Clinton and host West Liberty. The JV game was also won by Mt. Pleasant, 2-0. Goals were tallied by Jasmine Craff and Anna Steffensmeier. The shutout was recorded by keepers Tiffany Liechty and Mallory Swigart.
