Home » Girls' Soccer NewsDouble Overtime Loss To Holy TrinityApril 18, 2012 Mt Pleasant High SchoolA dramatic goal by Erin Watt with only 35 seconds remaining in the second period forced a 1-1 and sent the Mt. Pleasant Panthers and Holy Trinity Catholic Crusaders into extra play Tuesday night at East Lake Park. HTC prevailed 2-1 when they kicked in a goal with 5:35 remaining in the second 10 minute overtime period. Both teams played to a scoreless tie in the first 40 minutes. It remained that way until Holy Trinity found the back of the net with a little over 7 minutes left in the second period. It looked like the Crusaders would win 1-0, but the Mt. Pleasant forwards desparately took several shots at the goal with the clock ticking down before Erin Watt finally got one to go in with 35 seconds left. The Panther girls are now 4-2 and will host the Washington Demons next Monday in a SEC game before traveling to Mid-Prairie Tuesday. Mt. Pleasant won the JV contest 1-0 over Holy Trinity. Sarah Van Dorin scored the game's lone goal in the first half to give the Panthers the victory.
