Home » Girls' Soccer NewsShort-handed Girls Drop Match To Notre DameApril 10, 2012 Mt Pleasant High SchoolPlaying without several key players who were participating in a school music event is Des Moines and another out with injury, the Mt. Pleasant girls soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision tonight to Burlington Notre Dame at East Lake Park. The Panthers held their own in the first 40 minutes against one of the better teams in the area, trailing the Nikes 1-0 at the break. But the second half belonged to Notre Dame, with the Panthers appearing to run out of gas. Mt. Pleasant will get another crack at Notre Dame on May 17 in Burlington, presumably with a full compliment of talent. Since Notre Dame does not field a JV squad, there was no JV contest. However, many of the Mt. Pleasant JV players did get quality minutes in the varsity game. Mt. Pleasant is now 3-1 on the season, 1-0 in SEC play. The Panther girls play the Keokuk Chiefs Thursday night in a Southeast Conference match at East Lake Park. The varsity contest is slated to begin at 4:30 PM followed by the JV match.
