Pleasant Panthers opened up their 2012 soccer season with a 5-2 win over Centerville last night at East Lake Park. Keeper Lauren Hillman recorded two saves in the 80 minutes of play. Long took five shots on goal, hitting three of them. In this very young sesason she leads Class 2A schools in Iowa with three goals. Half of LeBranc's four goal attempts found the back of the net. Those that started for the Panthers were Mila Argueta, Megan Schneider, Kathyrn Chabal, Lauren Hillman, Amber Hainline, Alyssa Hoyle, Linzie Hood, Holly Long, Allie Liechty, Hannah LeBranc, and Erin Watt. In the boys contest, Mt. Pleasant knocked off Centerville 4-1. The Panther boys opened season play Monday night, dropping a 5-1 match at Iowa City Regina. The Panther girls are back in action on Thursday when they host the Ottumwa Bulldogs. Last year Mt. Pleasant shutout Ottumwa 5-0 on a cold damp night at the Walsh soccer field in Ottumwa.
