Mt. Pleasant Middle School Honor Band

Nearly 250 selected middle school musicians from numerous Southeast Iowa schools will decend on Mt. Pleasant Saturday, March 31 for the annual Mt. Pleasant Middle School Honor Band.

The event will begin at 9:00 AM with two guest conductors working with students on several musical selections, and the day will end with a 4:00 PM concert open to the public.

Stephanie Nuss will direct the 6th Grade Honor Band and Dorothy Jacobi direct the 7-8th Grade Honor Band.  Nuss is the 6th grade band instructor at Oak Ridge in the Linn-Mar school district. Jacobi teaches instrumental music at Solon Middle School.

Admission to the 4:00 PM concert at the high school is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, and $2 for students. Concessions will be available throughout the day after 8:00 AM for the participants.

Between the 6th grade concert and 7/8 grade concert, band directors from area schools will join together to play several jazz tunes.

Last year's guest conductors were Tom Sandholm from Grinnell and Jim DePriest from Mt. Pleasant.
