Home » Girls' Basketball NewsGBB: Golden Eagles fall in bizarre championship game of grant FourDecember 31, 2010 Oak Hill High SchoolThe championship of the grant Four Dec. 29 was a strange game in many ways. In the end, Madison-Grant liked the oddities. The Argylls bested county menses Oak Hill 31-25 to capture the crown. Things got off to an unusual start as M-G held the Golden Eagles scoreless in the first quarter to take an early 4-0 lead. Yes, I said 4-0. The game did not speed up much in the second eight minutes. Oak Hill did manage to dent the board for seven points and that was enough to tie the game 7-7 at intermission.
Just when you thought it was an old fashioned slowdown affair, both teams produced 13 third quarter points and the game headed into the final eight minutes tied at 20. That fourth quarter belonged to Madison-Grant.
Danielle Thompson led the Oak Hill attack with eight points. Leading scorer Marissa Coolman was held to just one point in the contest. The loss dropped Oak Hill to 9-3 on the year.
