Laker Boys 1-1 for the Season

The Lakeland boys’ soccer team opened up their season with a win over Garrett. Logan Lawrence, the Lakers striker, scored within two minutes into the game assisted from Samuel Garcia. A few minutes later, Garrett player Reiley Pugh put one in the back of the net to tie the game. The game finished and went into overtime, but in the last couple seconds, Daniel Nieves was awarded a penalty in favor for the Lakers. Samuel Garcia then took the shot with no seconds left on the clock and scored, giving the Lakers a 2-1 win.
The Lakers faced Dekalb on Tuesday night. Dekalb took home a big 9-3 win. Brennan Cochran scored 4 goals for Dekalb in the 10th, 27th, 39th, and the 63rd minute of the game. Also Dekalb was awarded goals by Quinton Lengacher with two goals and Austin Grubb with one goal. Logan Lawrence put the Lakers on the scoreboard with an assist from Samuel Garcia. A few minutes later, Samuel Garcia scored to make the score closer. The Lakers were awarded a free kick late in the second half, where Daniel Nieves scored after the ball hit a Dekalb defender. The Laker will travel to Central Noble on Thursday night.
