The Lakeland Baseball team took one of two from the Bishop Luers Knights on Saturday. In game one it was Dylan Pranger on the mound for the Lakers going 6.1 innings allowing seven runs on seven hits, all earned. Following him was Hunter Sams going .2 inning allowing no runs on no hits and walking one. Offensively, Lakeland was led by Dylan Pranger with two hits and Hunter Sams, Derrick Dunn, Morgan Moore, William Kelly, and Kyle Casper each having hits as well.
In game two, it was a different story. With some middle, late inning dramatics, Lakeland pulled out the 8-5 victory over the Knights. Alex Pearson battled on the bump for the Lakers going 5.1 innings allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits, 2 strikeouts and 4 walks. Derrick Dunn finished the job going 1.2 innings not giving up a hit. Dunn would work out of some late inning jams with the help of his defense. Offensively in the second game the Lakers were led by senior William Kelly. Kelly went 4-4 with three singles, one double, two RBI and two runs scored. Also having hits for the Lakers were Dalton Schmidt, Alex Pearson, Derrick Dunn, and Sammy Garcia (who had two).
Lakeland will travel to Bethany Christian on Monday to take on the Bethany Christian Bruins in a non-conference battle. Lakeland has now moved to 4-12 on the season.
