Lakers End in Tie
May 2, 2014By Dalton Schmidt of Lakeland High School
You rarely see a tie in baseball but that’s what happened yesterday as the Lakeland Lakers and Fremont Eagles tied 5-5.
Kyle Casper, Derrick Dunn and William Kelly all had hits for the Lakers, and Casper scored two runs. William Kelly took the mound for the Lakers allowing 2 earned runs on 10 hits and striking out 10 before the game was called in the top of the eighth due to the plate umpire claiming that he could no longer see.
The Lakers will be in action again today as they head to South Bend John Adams. The JV contest starts at five and the varsity contest starts at 7.
