Laker Softball Fall

April 25, 2014
By Evan Garretson of Lakeland High School

A rough defensive game for the Lakers. Lakeland scored 7 runs (all earned) with 2 outs in the 3rd and 4th innings, but gave up 12 unearned runs off three pitchers, with Aspend Bond taking the loss. Fairfield jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd, with 4 of those unearned. Lakeland came back to score 4 runs in the top of the 3rd off a 3-run homer by Ashton Miller. Jill Mingus followed that with a solo shot. Lakers went with Aspen Bond to start the Fairfield 3rd, but the Falcons would get 7 runs in that inning, all unearned. Madison Campbell and Kristen Wiese doubled in the fourth and Bailei Aldrich and Karissa Troyer singled in the fourth to produce three runs. But the Falcons would answer in their half of the fourth to make the margin 11 runs. Lakers play Fairfield again on Monday to open up NECC tourney play.
