August 30, 2013By Dalton Schmidt of Lakeland High School
It took the Lakeland Volleyball team four sets to finish off Hamilton, but in the end they came out with a 1-0 NECC record.
The Lakers took a commanding 8-1 lead in the first set after aceing runs from juniors Abi Thompson and Madison Campbell, then after a back and forth match the lakers went on another run this time with seven straight point and later took the game on a Hamilton serving error. The Marines put up a better fight int he second set with Lakeland winning by just four points for 25-21 set win. They would drop the next set by a margin of 22-25, but came back strong in what would prove to be the final set as the lakers ended it on three aggresive points which were produced by an Ashtin Kaminer ace, a Becca Wooster kill, and Karissa Troyer finished it with an ace.
You can see your Lady Lakers in action again this Saturday as they head to Prairie Heights to take part in the Prairie Heights Classic.
