The boys' basketball team lost to the Wawasee Warriors Friday night 63-55. The Lakers were outscored 29-15 in the first quarter and were down by as many as 19 in the game. A strong surge in the second half brought the Lakers back in the game as they outscored Wawasee by 10, but in the end Lakeland could not pull out the victory. Junior Brant Betts scored a career high 22 points in his second start of the season while Senior Spencer Mortola added 15 points and Mitch Herber pitched in 10. The Lakers next game is Senior Night as they will take on the Churobusco Eagles February 1st.
Lakeland JV had an exciting win against the Warriors as they won on a last second shot from Freshman Josh Collyer. With just seconds left Collyer hit a turn around jump shot to give the Lakers 30-28 lead and the win. Josh Collyer and Tanner Oakley each had 10 points in the victory.
