Lakers Win in First Round

The Lakeland Lakers defeated the Prairie Heights Panthers 46-43 in the first round of the NECC Tournament on Tuesday night. The win puts the Lakers into the second round of the Tournament bumping their record up to 2-8. Spencer Mortola and Chandler Mynhier had big games for the Lakers with Mortola scoring 13 and Mynhier adding 11 points. Mortola made two crucial free throws in the end of the fourth quarter to increase the Laker the lead and eventually lead them to the win. Mortola and Mynhier both were named players of the game for their performances. Lakeland will travel to Prairie Heights to take on the West Noble Chargers on Wednesday night following the girl's game.
The Lakeland Lady Lakers fell to the Panthers Tueday night by a score of 58-30. The Panthers went on an 18-0 run with proved to be too much for the Lakers. Abi Thompson led the Lakers with 13 points and five rebounds while Becca Levitz had five points and eight rebounds. Lakeland will play Churobusco in the consolation game on Thursday night.
