Lakers fall in two hard fought games

The Lakeland Lakers girl's basketball team lost their second striaght game to open the season 51-31 to Wawasee. Despite coming out and playing a strong first half and leading 22-16, the Lady Lakers were unable to keep the momentum going in the second half. The Lakers were led in scoring by sophomore Becca Levitz who scored 10 points to go along with her three rebounds. Abi Thompson and Carlee Richardson also added seven points a piece.
On Friday night the Lady Lakers lost a hard fought game to county rival Prairie Heights by a score of 59-37. Junior Ashtin Kaminer led the way for the Lakers in scoring, rebounds, assists, and steals finishing with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Turnovers ended up being the deciding factor for Lakeland as they finished with 26 opposed to Prairie Heights' 15. The loss drops the Lakers to 0-3 on the season.
