The Lakeland Laker baseball team went 1-2 on Friday and Saturday with a win over ECA and losing both games of a double header to East Noble.
On Friday the Lakers travelled to ECA and picked up an eighth inning 8-6 victory over the Eagles. Starting the game for the Lakers was Austin Keckler who had two earned runs off four hits with two strikeouts. The Lakers had a hot first inning where they scored six of their eight runs. Hunter Sams lead the team with three hits while Nick Byler and Luke miller had two hits a piece including an inside the park homerun off of the bat of Byler. William Kelly came in for relief in the bottom of the fourth and would stay in the game for the rest of the eight innings.
Then the Lakers would take on the Knights in a double header on Saturday where they would take two straight losses the first being 11-0 and the second game being 16-4. In the first contest Lakeland was limited to two hits and would be held scoreless through five innings of play. The starter for Lakeland was Hunter Sams who pitched three innings allowing ten hits and eight runs. Jalen Priestley would come in for relief.
In the second game the Lakers struck for three runs in the first inning and one in the fifth but couldn’t hold off the Knights who would score eleven runs in the second inning. Alex Pearson was the hurler for Lakeland and gave up six runs off of 12 hits and struck out three.
