Every team member with at least one varsity regular season game played was eligible to compete. Each player rolled 3 games with their scores added to see where they placed in the 35 player field. The top 16 players would advance into the playoff bracket with the number one seed taking on the number sixteen seed and so on. With the top sixteen decided and having 5 of the 7 Vikings in the field being led by Huntington North’s Zac Tackett with a score of 670 followed by 2nd seed Senior Tyler Krepp shooting a 622 and 5th seed Cole Boyd’s 605 along with 8th seed Senior Adam Harris-Shoemaker’s 581 and Senior AJ Bickel making the cut by 4 pins in 15th seed shooting a 535 the Vikings started the playoff. 1st seed Tackett won his first match defeating #16 Mock 184 to 176. 2nd seed Krepp won his first match defeating 15th seed and team mate AJ Bickel 254 to 181 5th seed Boyd lost to 12th seed Fox 179 to 212 8th seed Shoemaker won his first match defeating 9th seed Call 202 to 199 Quarter finals 1st seed Tackett lost to 8th seed team mate Shoemaker 191 to 219 advancing Shoemaker into the Semi-finals 2nd seed Krepp won over 10th seed Sander 222 to 191 advancing Kreep to the Semi-finals With Tackett losing his match but ties Sanders for highest losing scores the two had a 9th and 10th frame roll-off to determine 5th and 6th place finishing positions. Tackett lost to Sanders 40 to 49 placing Tackett in 6th for the Tournament. Semi-Finals #8 Shoemaker was defeated 166 to #13 Retherford’s 187 #2 Krepp won his match over #3 seed in a close match 204 to 195 advancing the Viking Senior to the Finals. Finals Krepp dominates his opponent 231 to Retherford’s 158 to take the 2012-13 Hoosier Conference Champion Title. Coach Doug Scott said Tyler had injured his knee during Thursday’s practice and he was forced to sit his senior out from bowling the remainder of practice. Coach said that Krepp had told him that he would win on Saturday, commenting on Krepp, Coach Scott said he thought Krepp has been very consistent this year and has been one of his leaders on the team both scoring and team spirit. He does what I ask him to do and that’s what makes winners, Krepp earned this victory today and I expect better things to come in the upcoming weeks leading to the State Finals in February. Assistant coach Bob Gottschalk and I expect our team to bond together and excel heading into State team and singles competition.
