This one was all Troy. It was not a landslide early though. At the end of one quarter of play, the score was 0-0. The Piqua defense was solid, forcing a turnover on downs deep in their own territory. The Indians “D” came to play, but the Trojans of Troy struck gold on special teams with a 45-yard punt return by Kyle Terando. That play got the crowd rolling and clearly sparked both the offense and defense. The defense stymied Piqua again and as the crowd became a factor, so did the Trojans offense. After a 26-yard touchdown pass from Greg Yahle to Marcus Foster, who happened to be a jack of all trades this night, the home team was up 13-0 at the half.

The second half was no different. The Troy offense watched their defensive buddies dominate on the field before giving them a rest by putting together a nearly 75-yard drive which took a good chunk of time off the clock. It was the cherry on top when, who else, Marcus Foster got into the end zone on a five-yard run. The scoring wasn’t finished though. Chris Basil turned on “beast mode” as he crashed, crunched, and pin-balled his way to a 38-yard touchdown run. The shutout was preserved, and the Troy Trojans had just played as good of a game as the faithfful could have hoped for. Offense, defense, special teams, you name it--the Trojans were just better this night.
