The Lady Eagles volleyball team is off to a great start with a 3-1 record thus far in the season.
After a slow start at Letcher County Central, where the Lady Eagles lost both games of play, they are on a 3-0 run and are showing no signs of slowing down. The Eagles have faced district opponents three out of the last four games (they have beaten Lawrence County, Magoffin County, and Sheldon Clark) and they have not lost a single match in those four games.
With Kara Stambaugh the lone senior on this year’s roster, the Lady Eagles volleyball team is overall very young, yet despite the team’s lack of leading seniors, coach Deborah McCool has confidence in her team.
“This year is going to be very exciting. We’re a young team overall but we have the heart to win,” stated Coach McCool.
Junior Claire Johnson, a JCHS middle hitter, has complete confidence in her team’s increasing performance, stating “The team is improving each and every game. At this rate a regional title sounds promising and reachable.”
As the returning district champions, much is expected of the Lady Eagles. They will next be in action September 6 against Lawrence County.
