Paintsville – The Johnson Central Golden Eagles started their 2012-13 season right where they left off last season, by dominating the 15th Region.
The 57th District Golden Eagles (1-0) defeated the 58th District South Floyd Raiders (0-2) 81-36 at Golden Eagle Field-House on December 1st in their 2012-13 season opener.
The Eagles had 3 players land double figures in the scoring column: Sophomore Kyle Gullett lead the scoring barrage with a game-high 19 points. Junior Slade McPeek nearly bagged a triple-double by attributing 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 steals. Defending 2012 15th Region MVP Shane Hall poured in 15 points and hauled in 10 rebounds.
But the game wasn't solely dominated by the Eagles. The Raiders of South Floyd gave the Eagles a run for their money early.

Johnson Central pulled away in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles put the game out of reach in the 2nd half by shooting 45%.
The Raiders won the re-bounding battle 46-41. This advantage on the boards was over-come by the points off turnovers, where the Eagles had a 44-5 advantage. Also, the Eagles lead on 2nd chance points: 14-5.
Johnson Central also displayed some depth from the bench. They outscored the Raiders 21-10 in points from the bench. Truman Salyer and Jacob Barber lead the bench scoring with 8 and 6 points respectively.
Austin Bailey lead the scoring for South Floyd by scoring 10 and being the only Raider to break double figures in scoring. Austin Salisbury also added 9 points.
